I’m Heidi.
An artist, maker, dreamer, reader and adventurer. I’m married to an engineering genius and I’m a homeschooling Mama to four miracle children.

This is a space for me to share the many things I love: snippets of daily life, books I’ve read, craft and home improvement projects, my faith, printables and patterns, homeschooling helps and our adventures. My greatest goal is to be intentional with the time I have been given. To appreciate the little moments; the nitty-gritty of every day. Real life moments.

I love to draw, paint and create embroidery art. Find my patterns, coloring pages and more in my Etsy shop.

Why A Lively Hope?

We have gone through a long journey of infertility, foster care and adoption. After several years on this road, I found myself bogged down by worries, jealousy, fears and the inability to turn my will over to my Father in Heaven. I went to the scriptures for comfort and felt prompted to learn more about hope.  The farther I delved into the topic of Hope, the more I felt my faith, peace and joy increase.

Hope became my motto.

“A Lively Hope” is a phrase found in 1 Peter 1:3. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”.

I love the image of ‘lively’ hope.  This is not a ‘sitting-around-crossing-my-fingers-and-wishing’ type of hope. It’s lively. It’s active.  Because I have hope I am enthusiastic. I am motivated to put in the hard work necessary to reach my goals. And because I have hope, I am trying to help others find it as well.
I hope my words offer you encouragement and help you to find joy in your small moments.

I love collaborations, and I’m excited to work with you!

Hearing from readers is one of my favorite things and I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please email me at hillman.heidi@gmail.com.

  1. Heidi,
I am the Chorister in my Primary and I need all the help I can get. I have found your flip charts to be the best there is out there. The illustrations are simple and perfect and the font is easy to read and helps the children. We just added "Choose Him Again" by Shauna Edwards. Is there any chance you have made a flip chart for this song? Most are mega pages long and filled with pictures that are huge. I am hoping you have already been asked this and have it on hand. Thank you so much for contributing your talent. You have made my job so much easier and successful. You are amazing.

  2. Dear Heidi,
My late wife and I tried to get pregnant for four years before it happened, so we knew a little of the pain you two went through. God bless you with your “lively hope.”
As the Christmas season approaches, most of us think of the birth of baby Jesus, and we try to make it more meaningful for us and our families. Here’s how you can help your readers with this. Would you please be willing to review this 26 page booklet from Cedar Fort Publishing about the Nativity and post it on your blog during our blog tour, October 17-24th? If so, please tell us your choice of days. THANKS! Neilkjohnson2@gmail.com.
We’ll send you a complimentary copy. We’ll also furnish a “giveaway copy” for your readers. Your readers may purchase this booklet online at Amazon or Barnes & Noble, plus at bookstores. Its cost is only $4.95.

A New Dramatization of The Nativity Pageant

Would you rather read the nativity story or be a part of it? Using simple stage directions, easy-to-find props, two narrators, and a script that’s straight from the scriptures, this book helps you act out the familiar story of the first Christmas for your church, family, or friends. Start a new tradition this season with a simple pageant you’ll look forward to performing year after year.

    Brief Summary
The Nativity Pageant starts with Angel Gabriel visiting Mary and ends with Joseph following the angel’s warning and taking his little family to Egypt, where Jesus will be safe. It takes about 15 minutes to perform, plus it has the lyrics to four traditional Christmas hymns, if people wish to sing them.

  3. I have been trying to download the Christmas flip chart and it won’t take my info. I am a new Primary President and as we don’t have a chorister, these flip charts will be wonderful. I don’t know what I am doing wrong.

  4. I printed the packet of FHE lessons from Christmas to Easter, but the links don't work. Is there a way to see what the "Additional Resources" are talking about?

  5. Hi Heidi, thank you for your inspiration and willingness to share your journey with others. I am touched by your interpretation of that scripture and how it brings a sense of joy & success to our efforts.
I love your free pintable's!! especially the Peace, be not afraid one, which are words that bring comfort & confidence in the Savior presence in our lives & an invitation to be an active participant in His work regardless of our present circumstances. It also goes nicely with the YW theme for the year. D&C 19:23.
I would like to print your autumn bucket list but I have not be able to find the link to click on to print it. Will you let me know where it is located? Its probably right in front of my face :}:} Thank you for all you do! lindalee

  8. Dear Heidi,
I’m serving a church service mission for the Ensign, which has been such an amazing opportunity and blessing in my life. We are working hard to add to resources in the magazine to support the new Come, Follow Me curriculum.
Would you be interested in applying to help with this effort? We are looking for a small group of volunteers—creative moms like you– to help generate family activities that correlate with the weekly study block. If you’re interested, we could talk more about what this would entail. Because of magazine deadlines, we would love to hear from you as soon as possible.

The assignment would likely be to come up with one activity per month.
Thanks so much for your dedication to the gospel. Let me know if you are willing to help.

    Sincerely, Christy Monson
